Breaking News: Paul Scholes not to take part in the Chelsea fixture
It has been confirmed from the Manchester United management that midfielder Paul Scholes wouldn’t be available for the Premier league fixture against Chelsea tomorrow.
The 35 year old midfielder has been a sensational player for the Reds this season but has failed to take part in the recent fixtures, having not trained with the squad since the Glasgow Rangers match in the Champions league. The player is suffering from
a groin injury and Sir Alex Ferguson believes the player will play no part of the fixture against Chelsea in Stamford Bridge.
"Paul is out of Sunday. We are working towards getting him fit for the New Year matches," stated the Man United manager. However, utility man John O Shea is expected to be back in the team following a calf issue which kept him out of the match against Arsenal.
United are currently at the top of the table following a 1-0 win over Arsenal at Old Trafford, which gave them a 2 point lead. United also have a match in hand after the cancellation of the fixture against Blackpool.
With Anderson in decent form in recent weeks, Manchester United wouldn’t miss the services of the midfielder and United are expected to go with the same team as played against Arsenal. United employed a 5 man midfield with Wayne Rooney as the solo striker
and would go with the same team for the first time in 151 league games. It would be a shocker to exclude Dimitar Berbatov yet again as the player has scored 11 times in the league this season. Berbatov was completely omitted from the fixture against Arsenal
at Old Trafford and the same is expected for the fixture against Chelsea.
With Chelsea on 31 points, Carlo Ancelotti would be looking to put the brakes on Man United and pull a win in order to keep themselves firm in the title race. The side has not won a fixture in 7 league games and have just managed 9 points from a possible
21 in the premier league.
