Breaking News: Ronaldinho in latest Brazilian squad as Lampard is set to face more time in rehabilitation
According to the latest news from the Chelsea F.C camp, Frank Lampard is once again set to miss out on the Blues encounter at the weekend in the English Premier League against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.
Chelsea won their last match in the English Premier League against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Stamford Bridge by two goals to nil. However, it has been expected for some time now that Lampard would make a comeback however the midfielder’s
fitness has taken a hit due to the extensive rehabilitation program that he has had to go through due to a hernia operation.
Lampard is seen as an important Chelsea player but the Englishman has already missed an important part of the new Premier League season because of his injury issues. In early October, right before the two week international break came
into place Ray Wilkins revealed that Lampard would be in action for Chelsea by middle of October but now as the season heads into November, there is no sign of the English midfielder making a speedy comeback from his groin injury.
Chelsea will face a stern test at Blackburn, a place where many teams have found it hard to get goals. Last season, Manchester United were held at Ewood Park against Sam Allardyce’s side. However, Chelsea are in blistering form at the
moment as they have won all but one of their 9 matches in the English Premier League in the 2010-2011 season. Arsenal and Manchester United both trail Chelsea at 17 points each while the Blues currently top the Premier League table with 22 points.
In other news, Brazil’s new coach Mano Menezes has recalled the Ronaldinho Gaucho to first team action once again for his international side for Brazil’s next month’s friendly against Argentina in Doha. Ronaldinho fell out of favour for
Brazil when the men in yellow were being managed by Dunga. However, Dunga was replaced by Menezes after Brazil’s abysmal performance in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, where they exited the tournament due to a quarter final defeat to Netherlands by two goals to one.
Ronaldinho has recently hit a rich vein of form at A.C Milan, where he is playing alongside Robinho and fellow compatriot Alexandre Pato.
Ronaldinho’s explosion in form has seen Milan’s climb to the top of the Serie A table. If Ronaldinho does indeed play for Brazil against Argentina in Doha next month, it will be his first appearance for Brazil in well over 18 months. Brazil
have also called up Neymar after the young striker was left out of the national team squad last time around due to disciplinary reasons. Neymar has had behavioural troubles at his club as well and was a target for the Chelsea F.C in the summer transfer window
of 2010.
