Breaking News: Sam Allardyce dismissed by Blackburn Rovers as first team manager
In recent news, it has been confirmed that, the ex-Newcastle United manager Sam Allardyce has been dismissed from his post as the Blackburn manager by the club’s owners following a bad run of results in the English Premier League.
Sam’s job was not particularly under threat, but his team did lose their last league match against Bolton Wanderers despite the fact that they were playing most part of the match with numerical superiority as Bolton had their midfielder Stewart Holden sent
off in the second half due to a second yellow card.
Sam has been lately linked with the English national team job, but his style of play has been criticized by many fans and managers alike in the English game. Allardyce, who believes in long ball football, failed to make his mark
previously at Newcastle in the 2008-2009 season where he was sacked shortly after taking charge at the Tyneside club.
Blackburn Rovers might look for Martin Jol to fill in their vacant manager’s post now, as the ex-Tottenham manager recently parted ways with Ajax just before Chris Hughton was sacked by Newcastle United. Earlier, it was thought
that Jol might be appointed as Newcastle’s new manager, but Alan Pardew was given that role in question. Sam’s dismissal will be yet another blemish on the Englishman’s C.V whose best moments in management have thus far come at Bolton Wanderers. During his
time with Bolton, Sam Allardyce took the Lancashire club to European football regardless of the fact that Bolton Wanderers had a very limited budget for new players.
Blackburn are currently 13th in the English league table after having just acquired 21 points from a total of 17 English Premier League games. It has not been a good season for Blackburn so far, but it is expected that
a change at helm of affairs might allow the club to prosper under new ownership, as an Indian business company “Venky’s” took over at the Ewood Park earlier this winter.
