Breaking News: Sebastian Vettel wins the 2010 Formula One Championships
Red Bull driver and acclaimed ‘crashkid’, Sebastian Vettel, won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in thrilling fashion. The young German aged 23 years and 135 days becomes the youngest driver in the history of the sport to win the championships. The honors
were previously held by McLaren Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton’s who accomplished the feat being 5 months older.
It was quite clearly one of the most dramatic finishes to the season in the history of Formula One racing. Before the final race Fernando Alonso of Ferrari was in the lead for the title followed by Red Bull’s Australian driver, Mark Webber.
Sebastian Vettel had an outside chance of making his mark as he was 15 points behind the Ferrari ace going into the race. Alonso needed to come 2nd in order to secure the title irrespective of results elsewhere. There was a
school of thought that believed that the Spaniard simply needed to finish ahead of Mark Webber, be it any position, to lift the championship trophy for the 3rd time in his career.  However, while the latter held true, both drivers finished
7th and 8th respectively – Vettel, who was able to take all 25 points at the end of the weekend, knicked the title by a mere 4 points.
The youngster was ecstatic after the win, and being fair to the lad, a touch shocked as well.
"I was thinking, 'He's sounding nervous,'" Vettel said after the Grand Prix. "Why is that? We must be in a bloody good position. But when I crossed the line I didn't know if we'd done enough. All weekend I'd just focused on winning the race."
The Red Bull driver has qualified on pole position more frequently than any of the 24 drivers competing this year. The German has been criticized for not being able to convert those good starts into championship points in the past. However, nearly
been crossed out of the running a few races ago, Vettel made an excellent comeback as he started ‘finishing’ races on pole as well.

At the end of the day, it was due to the young driver’s determination that enabled him to be able to find the light when all looked lost. It was a well deserved and more importantly, well contested driver’s championship and irrespective of whichever
team you support, a part of you would silently admit that the end result was justified – Well raced, Sebastian Vettel.
