Breaking News: Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United to put the matter to “bed” today
Wayne Rooney saga is far from over as Sir Alex Ferguson is poised to respond in kind to his player’s statements yesterday. It has been a torrid week at the Theatre of dreams for Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson revealed that the matter will take yet
again turn for better or for worse on Thursday, 21st of October, 2010 as the club will be analyzing the situation by themselves in private. Wayne Rooney held his very own press conference along with his advisors and agent to reveal the reasons as
to why he wants to part ways with Manchester United.
The striker revealed that he was in contract talks with Manchester United ever since early March, 2010. But he stalled the negotiations when David Gill did not give him enough assurances about the club’s ambitions for the future. He stated that his main
aim at United was to win trophies and medals and see success on the field but that the prospects of reproducing their previous success look weak in the near future. It is believed that Rooney asked Gill to provide him some assurances regarding the club’s ability
to attract world class players.
Manchester United won their UEFA Champion’s League group stage match on 20th of October, 2010 courtesy of a Luis Nani strike. Sir Alex Ferguson revealed the club’s plans when he was asked about whether his team squad was being affected by the
whole scenario in a negative manner. When the Scot was asked about Manchester United’s ambitions or the lack of it in the future, he spoke wearily and sarcastically that he has only won thirty or so odd trophies.
This comment was aimed at Wayne Rooney’s reservations regarding the club’s ability to challenge for trophies by attracting the best players in the world. Ferguson clearly stated that the club will put the matter to "bed" meaning that they will have the final
say with regard to their strikers situation on Thursday.
Ferguson and Manchester United are set to release a statement today clarifying the situation further. Meanwhile there have been many other managers and English football pundits who have urged Wayne Rooney to stay at Manchester United. Even Jose Mourinho,
the Real Madrid manager has said that he expects Wayne to stay at the Theatre of Dreams. It remains to be seen how Manchester United will react to Rooney’s comments that have confirmed the fact that the English national team striker wants out of the Red Devil’s
setup.
