Breaking News: Sir Alex Ferguson terms Premier League as a tough league and appreciates the unpredictability factor
Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United’s long standing manager has come out and termed the English Premier League as a tough league to win. The ex-Aberdeen manager also appreciated the fact that fans are loving the unpredictability
factor that has emerged in the league title race this season. Manchester United gear up to face off against the English champions Chelsea in their next league encounter, a match that might decide in whose hands the English league title will rest in May, 2011.
United defeated Arsenal in their last league match as Chelsea drew against Tottenham at White Hart Lane. The Champions have now slipped down to the 4th place in the English league table at the moment and things look
bleak for Carlo Ancelloti, whose men have suffered a huge dip in form. The English league itself has been particularly exciting this season as big teams such as Liverpool have found themselves in the bottom three early on in the season whereas Manchester City
find themselves near the summit of the English league table.
Newly promoted teams such as Blackpool and Newcastle United have also surprised, as the former has pulled off remarkable results against the likes of Liverpool whereas the latter defeated Arsenal at the Emirates stadium. Not only
that, West Bromwich Albion have been quite competent as well, the Baggies grabbed a crucial away draw at Manchester United’s home stadium, Old Trafford.
Ferguson spoke about the surprise results this season as he stated, "I think it's a tough league but what do people want? Do they want Manchester United or Chelsea or Arsenal to be steamrollering the league every season? The general
public likes what they're seeing now, ourselves dropping points, Chelsea dropping points, Arsenal dropping points. You also see the rise of Tottenham, who have done absolutely fantastic since Harry Redknapp went there.”
He added, "As Harry says himself, why can't they win the league? That belief is now getting through to his players." Ferguson also spoke at length about Carlo Ancelloti and the pressure that the Italian finds himself under now
especially after the departure of Ray Wilkins and Chelsea’s bad run of results in the English Premier League.
The Scotsman said, "We're reading all this about him being under pressure since Ray Wilkins has left, but I don't see that myself. He will have his own single-minded determination to prove himself. He is a winner. He was a great
footballer with Milan and won the European Cup twice with them. He has done fantastic and I just think the show will go on."
