Breaking News: Tiger Woods has ankle trouble
Tiger Woods has been confirmed to have received a cortisone shot in his right ankle about 10 days ago. The player had been experiencing some lingering soreness, a scar left by his 2008 injury, and had to get the shot to relieve the pain.
Woods revealed only earlier at the Masters that in December 2008, he had ruptured his right leg’s Achilles tendon and that too while recovering from a knee surgery. The soreness from the injury was still causing the golfing legend some pain this season and that is what prompted his decision to get the cortisone shot.
Earlier today, his agent told reporters that “the tiger” was back in action and was hitting balls on the range already. The agent also disclosed to the press that the American golfer was currently also in the process of shooting a commercial.
From what we hear, Woods ankle has been giving him trouble for quite a while now. IMG’s Mark Steinberg disclosed that the player had been planning to get the shot since right after when the Chevron World Challenge ended on December 5th.
Tiger Woods fans do not need to despair as the good news is that the golfer has nearly two months off before his next stint on the golf course. This allows him plenty of time to heal and get back in shape for the upcoming season.
Steinberg also addressed rumours that had been circulating around the internet about how the professional American golfer had torn his Achilles while skiing. He effectively put these rumours to rest by making it public that Woods had not skied in over three years now.
Tiger Woods has perhaps been the most talked about celebrity this year and that too for all the wrong reasons. Earlier this year, the knowledge about his 121 extra marital affairs was made public, he later got admitted into rehab, he went through his divorce in August and his comeback into the world of golf left a lot to be desired.
This was the first winless season of the player’s career. One hopes that with all the distractions finally out of the way he will be able to focus on getting his game back to its former glory. We definitely caught a glimpse of the old Tiger at the Chevron Challenge and if he plays his cards right, next season we may see the return of “the tiger” to the throne.
We will next see him in action during The Farmers Insurance Open, a PGA Tour Event, at the Torrey Pines golf course. The event is scheduled from January 27thto 30th and has a purse of $ 5,800,000.
