Breaking News: Tomasz Kuszczak worried about his future at Manchester United
Manchester United second choice goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak has stated that he may well be moving from Old Trafford, if he doesn’t get playing minutes on the pitch. The player is in his 6th season with Manchester United, but would only be making
his 53rd appearance for the team, while starting against Scunthorpe United in Wednesday’s Carling Cup clash.
There seems to be no dip in the form of current number 1 goal keeper Edwin Van Der Sar, who, despite reaching his 40th birthday, shows no sign of aging. The Dutch International, who joined United back in 2005 from Fulham, established himself as
the first choice keeper and won the UEFA Goalkeeper of the year award in 08/09 season. Many expect United to look for a replacement when Van Der Sar calls time on his career and Kuszczak may never get the chance to prove his worth. The Polish shot-stopper
thus believes that he doesn’t want to stay as the second choice and may well fancy a move to a club, which gives him a promise of first team action. Former teammate Ben Foster transferred from Manchester United this season to find his footings with Birmingham
City, and has already found his way back into the English National side. This had added fuel to fire for Kuszczak, who fancies a similar move should keep ignoring his existence at the club.
"I could understand Ben's position. He wanted to move because he wanted regular football, and he wanted to play for England. But if I don't get enough games I will have to do the same as Ben. The years are going by and I will be 29 after this season. I want
to enjoy football and I want to play.” claimed the 28-year-old Pole.
Kuszczak moved to England in 2004 from his boy-hood club Hertha BSC, where he signed with West Bromwich Albion. The player spent a season long loan spell with Manchester United in 06/07 season before inking a permanent deal. The player recently started the
UEFA Champions league match against Glasgow Rangers last week and was able to keep a clean sheet. In his overall career at Manchester United, Kuszczak has managed to keep 20 clean sheets, which is an impressive record for a 28-year-old second choice goalkeeper.
