Breaking News: Tottenham manager Redknapp defends Huddlestone as Hughton praises Carroll
Harry Redknapp, Tottenham Hotspurs manager has come out and insisted that Tom Huddlestone’s alleged stamp on Johan Elmander’s chest in the second half of the match between Spurs and Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium must’ve been a misunderstanding as
the player is as tame as they come. The match referee, Chris Foy apparently didn’t see the incident but it has been caught on camera and thus there is still a possibility that F.A might review it and then hand out a 2 match ban to the English midfielder.
Harry Redknapp spoke to the media after his team’s loss to Bolton by four goals to two as he said, "I've not seen it...I will see it on the TV and if you call me up in the morning, I'll tell you exactly what happened. Did he jump on him or something? I swear
I followed the ball and never saw what happened. I don't know what happened. That's the God's honest truth. But Tom's tame. He's a good footballer, isn't he? He's not aggressive."
On the other hand, Chris Hughton sung Roy Carroll’s praises after the target man netted Newcastle’s only goal during their match against Arsenal to give the Magpies their second win on the trot. Hughton addressed the media after the match as he said, "Andy
is mentally very strong. He is a player who is developing, apart from having a prowess in the air; he has given us a mobility which can stretch defenders. He has still got a long way to go. Andy is working hard on all aspects on his game and he is certainly
going in the right direction. For me, being picked for Newcastle United is the most important. Anything which comes from that means he has earned it."
Hughton added to his comments as he said, "To come here and get the result we have, I think we deserve to talk about football matters, It was a magnificent team effort. This is a very difficult place to come and get a result, let alone a victory. You have
to be resilient as a team and the moments where we had to defend we did so very well, and you are just looking to get that breakaway. Luckily for us, Andy Carroll provided it. We have a team who are a very close-knit group; they work very well for each other
and know where they want to be playing their football. This performance showed what it meant to each and every one of them."
Hughton concluded by remarking on his own future which has been under doubt as he is yet to be offered a new contract by Newcastle United. Chris said, "There is not anything I can do, all I can do is win as many football matches as I can."
