Breaking News: Unrest in the Chelsea camp as Ray Wilkins reveals that he was dismissed unfairly
Ray Wilkins came out for the first time after parting ways with Chelsea from his assistant manager’s post as he has claimed in the press in his latest interview that he was dismissed unfairly from his post at the London club. Wilkins has
hinted at legal action against the Premier League champions after he was apparently told that he wasn’t going to be offered a new contract at Chelsea.
Wilkins, who is an ex-Chelsea player himself, has instrumental in Chelsea’s title winning campaign last year, a campaign which saw the Blues win the F.A Cup as well as the English Premier League title. The former Chelsea man has been recently
replaced by Michael Emenalo in a surprising turn of events at the London club, an appointment that has also stirred up the feelings of Carlo Ancelloti, the club’s manager.
Wilkins spoke to the press as he stated, "I am very disappointed that the board decided that I had no further contribution to make at Chelsea Football Club which has played such a huge part in my life. Since rejoining the club, I am extremely
proud to have assisted in Chelsea's recent successes. I enjoyed a fantastic relationship with the staff, players and the supporters and I now wish them all the very best for the future. The LMA's legal advisors are assisting me in obtaining answers to a number
of questions arising from my undoubtedly unfair dismissal, and all efforts are being made to reach an amicable solution. I therefore will be making no further comment at this stage."
Ancelloti spoke on his own accord before his team’s weekend’s match against Birmingham City at the Saint Andrew’s stadium. Chelsea’s title winning manager said, "I am not here to explain how I feel at the moment, because it is not the
right moment. I'm professional, I will continue to work. I want to stay focused on my team. The club made this decision (to promote Emenalo) after the decision on Ray. But nothing has changed, for me. Emenalo has been working with me before. He started when
I came here last year. He was the opposition scout and was supporting me. He's not been involved in the training, and won't be, because (first-team coach) Paul Clement has been and will remain doing that.”
Ancelloti was adamant that it was not his decision to part ways with Wilkins and neither did he have any say in Emenalo’s appointment as Ray’s replacement. The Italian said, "But nothing changes. It was not my decision, but he is working
with me for a year and a half anyway."
On the other hand Chelsea has released a statement on the whole matter. The Club website contained an official press released which said, "Emenalo will continue to oversee the first team scouting operation as he makes the transition to
coaching" as he needed to gain additional qualifications.” Carlo Ancelloti added to his remarks about Emenalo’s role with the team and the club as a whole. He said, "He won't be involved in the training sessions."
