Breaking News: Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez to be fit for the Derby encounter
Manchester United Wayne Rooney and Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez are expected to be fit in time for this season’s first Eastland Derby, which is to be played on 10th November.
According to the media reports, both the strikers are expected to be fit for the Manchester Derby in November, despite being ruled out for two to three weeks owing to injuries.
'Rooney was expected to be out for three to four weeks with an ankle injury but United are increasingly hopeful of having him available on November 10 for their Barclays Premier League game away to Manchester City, the club that the player could have joined
before his about turn,' claimed the newspaper. Rooney has a habit making sudden come backs and has the best recovery rate in the Premier League. Last season, the player was ruled out of action for 2-3 weeks in March, but made the starting XI in the next week’s
fixture against Bayern Munich at Old Trafford.
“Rooney is known for returning early from injury, notably in last season's Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich. He was told he was out for three weeks after damaging ankle ligaments in the first leg but returned a week later for the return”,
claimed the newspaper.
On the other hand, Carlos Tevez is suffering from a thigh sprain but the newspaper claims that Tevez is expected to be back for this weekend’s fixture against Wolves.
Last season, Manchester United dominated most of the derbies, as they won 3 out of 4 Eastland clashes. This included a total wipe-out in the league, where United pulled off two late winners both home and away. The sides met each other in the Carling Cup
semi-final, but were defeated in the City of Manchester Stadium. However, on the home leg, United thrashed their neighbours 3-1 to book their place into the final, which they eventually won.
Rooney’s inclusion in the United squad would be welcomed by all the players, as the player ended a week long speculation by signing a 5 year contract with the Red Devils. Although his services were not missed in the Stoke City win this weekend. Nonetheless,
Rooney’s overall impact for the team has always been a positive one and has ultimately been responsible for team’s inspiration. The same goes for Tevez, who has been in the form of his life this season. He remains to be Manchester City’s motivation and has
already scored 7 times in 8 premier league appearances so far this season.
