  1. try to make sugar unavailable to you. don't have any in the house if possible (or get ur family to keep sugary foods hidden from you). i find that if the sugary stuff is too difficult to get to, i forget about it.

xylitol is a good alternative. it's natural and safe, and is actually good for teeth.

  2. Addiction to sugar can reduce your lifespan by 11-20 years. It's a fact and should be motivation enough to reduce your sugar intake.

Sugar is more addictive than cocaine (another fact), and if you think artificial sweeteners are a way for breaking sugar addiction, then you're quite wrong. Go for natural sweeteners like erythritol, agave, xylitol and luo han guo. They are low-cost, abundant and far more safer than artificial sweeteners.

Agave and erythritol can replace sugar cube-for-cube and you won't notice the difference in taste when you use them. Moderation and natural substitutes are the easiest ways for overcoming sugar addiction. Take it from me... I used to be a sugar addict myself :)

  3. There's no easy way to break a sugar addiction.  I've done it.  You just have to go to a diet of veggies, dairy products, lean meats, fish, eggs, nuts, sunflower seeds, cheese.  You can eat as much of those foods as you want.

Avoid all cereals, breads, and grains, don't eat potatoes, and of course anything with sugar or flour in it is a no-no.

After about 3 days you won't even miss sugar, but for those 3 days you'll want it a lot.

  4. Splenda?
