  1. I WOULD KEEP CONTIUING YOUR TRAINING/BREAKING PROGRAM BUT ALSO I FIND IF YOU SIT ON HIM WHILE BEING LUNGED IT HELPS THE PONY TO UNDERSTAND MORE.

BUT IF YOU DIDN'T GET HURT THEN THATS OK, A FEW BRUISES DON'T DO YOU MUCH HARM AND BREAKING A STUBBORN PONY IN TAKES ALOT OF COURAGE AND PATIENCE!

    GOOD LUCK!!! =]

  2. Lung him everyday if possible.

make him canter a few strides then

    ask for a trot.

    repeat.

each day make him canter more strides then

    the day before.

soon he will be cantering full circles on the ground.

then when you are ryding him it

will be easier for him to understand what

    you are asking for.

also a thing to remeber(cuz i made this mistake)

is to teach signals for your horse to pick up

the canter. Such as clicking for a trot.

    and "kissing" for a canter.

teach him this on a lunge line first.

    then when ur ryding him

he will already have the idea of wht ur asking him to do.

  3. I just recently broke a very stubborn POA (appaloosa).  She did this to me many times.  Every time the pony does it, sternly tell him 'no' and get back on.  One thing you need to make sure to do is never work for more than 20 minutes on doing only one thing.  This will make the pony annoyed so he will never want to be ridden.
