  1. go after the legs. that's the easiest way to bring them down. otherwise, dont let go after the WR has the ball.  in the meantime, work on your upper body strength.

  2. Dude. Your playing football. YOU NEED TO MAKE A TACKEL! Don't be scared. Thats what football is. Tackeling. If you want to play football and not be riding that bench TACKEL! You hit that guys with all you've got. Buck up.

    Good luck stud. :]

  3. First of all, you want to keep your base. Second, watch his waist. He can't fake where his hips are going. Third, no matter how hard you hit him, there is no more sure tackle than a wrap up tackle. If the guy is bigger and stronger than you, you can still tackle him. Go for his legs. If nothing else, you will slow him down enough to get some help. Get a hold of his legs and do NOT LET GO!! Like I said, if you hold of one of his legs, he won't be able to run that well, and he could also possibly trip. But master your wrap up tackles.

One thing that will help increase your tackling is to work on your benching and squatting. If your squat is good, you will be able to have a more explosive hit and help you drive to your opponents. Having good bench will make it harder for people to break your tackles.

Just work on your wrap up tackling. It's much better to be a wrap up tackler than a hard hitter. (Though being a hard hitter is a very nice bonus as well.)

Good luck winning your starting spot man ;)

  4. Dont leave your base once you do that he jas you beat stay square and wrap up also watch his waist he can do all the head faking he wants but his legs will let you know where he is going

  5. www.sportskool.com has a video on tackling for defensive backs.

  6. Three simple things will resolve that issue successfully:

    1.  Focus on the numbers when hitting

    2.  If a runner starts "juking" you have to gather yourself up, and wait for him to make his move.  His numbers can't "juke", so keep your eyes off his legs and head, and focus on his chest, to prevent being faked

    3.  Think "contain" on a shake-and-bake runner.  Contain means sacrificing the "big hit", not overrunning to the left or right, staying on your toes, and maintaining an angle of pursuit to prevent him getting by you.  If you play poised and controlled in this manner, even a faster-than-you back will be routinely contained. By slowing the play down, you take away the RB's primary strengths - speed, quickness and fakes.
