I have recently purchased a new cruiser Schwinn. when i am riding the bike and i stop peddling and start coasting the bike makes funny sounds. it has a coaster break. im not sure if i have to break it in or if the back hub is bad because i usually buy higher end bikes and i only bought this one to mount a motor onto. I just re-greased the hub and the bearings and it is a little better but im still not satisfied. thanks for the help

  1. can you describe the funny sounds?

does the bike have hand brakes?  can you find anything that might be rubbing on the chain or tire?  see if there's any flex-- I've had problems where it took weight (like me sitting on it) to make the parts rub together, when I had the bike on the shop rack we couldn't duplicate the problem.

  2. i had one like that and they told me and i found out that my bearing houseing was shot and the bearing was just rattleing inside the hub because the race could no longer hold them anymore
