Breaking in skates...?

I got my new skates (risport RF4's) about 2 months ago. I wore them twice, the first time I couldn't balance because they were so heavy, and also painful. The second time they were painful, but it was going away by the end of the session. I wore them an hour and a half each time.

Then 2 weeks later, I had my lessons, and there was no pain at all. The second lesson they were hurting again. I have been doing these lessons (they arent my first lessons) for 6 weeks now, and each week the pain has been getting worse. Its not blistering pain, just aching around my arch. Last week it was so back my feet were shaking. But the pain goes away if I stop for a while (3 or 4 minutes) or bend down really low. My lessons go for 1 hour once a week. The pain dosent usually start untill 10 - 15 minutes in the lesson, after we have done a few lpas of forwards and backwards stroking, and a group warmup.

So I'v worn them for a total of 8 times (11 hours).

Am I still breaking them in, or is somehting else happening? Appart from that they are sooo comfy!

  1. Haha RF4s are NOTHING.

    You should try breaking in RF2s. They kill.

    Okay, not that literally but the first few times were HORRIBLE.

    I used RF4s before switching to RF2s and I actually thought they don't hurt that much.

    But here's a tip anyway..

    Walk around your house with them in skate guards.

    That really helped me. A lot.

    And don't worry, give it time. The pain will go away.

    Soon. =D

  2. I had this problem with RF4'S. they wuld hurt one time, and not the next, then give me blisters so on. So i emailed where i got them from, they sent me some moulded insoles, as the ones with rf4's do not cover the instep inside the boot, wich rubs against your foot. Scince i have used the moulded insoled they have't hurt me at all. You can get them from www.everglides.co.uk
