  1. Bummer.  They were the last hope for cheap tickets to England...

  2. Zoom Airlines to go into administration

Zoom Airlines, which operates services between the UK, Canada and the US, is to go into administration. The airline said today that it is seeking protection from creditors in view of "acutely difficult trading conditions within the aviation industry".

Hugh Boyle, Zoom's executive chairman, said: “Zoom Airlines Limited, based at London Gatwick and Zoom Airlines Inc, based in Ottawa Canada, have sought creditor protection by filing legal notices of intention to appoint an administrator in both the UK and Canada."

“Our trading position is a direct consequence of the horrendous increase in the price of aviation fuel and the economic climate. The rise in the price of fuel resulted in a US$50 million increase in our operating costs during the last year alone and that coupled with the general economic downturn has led to difficulties which are being felt throughout the industry.”

The airline continues to operate services across its network, although there are some delays after one of the airline's planes was grounded in Canada, after fees were allegedly unpaid.

Zoom hopes to be able to continue operations and says negotiations on an investment package are already "at an advanced stage".

  3. Stuck in Ottawa after yesterday's flight 342 was cancelled. No info from Zoom. Apalling customer relations. Rumoured departure at 1300 but not hopeful.

  4. This appears to be true. My son-in-law is a Zoom pilot.
