Breaking news: David Beckham to be awarded with a lifetime achievement award
Former Manchester United and English midfielder David Beckham would be awarded with the Life Time Achievement award, at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year gala to be held this month. The decision has been made by a panel of judges owing to Beckham’s
contribution to game, both off and on the pitch and the player’s untiring work to promote British sport around the World.
The LA Galaxy midfielder remains England’s most capped midfielder and has won six premier league crowns along with a Champions league title with Manchester United. The player also received the accolade of the BBC Personality of the year in 2001 and has also
won a La Liga title, when he moved to Real Madrid from United. David has also spent 2 successful loan spells with Italian Giants AC Milan.
Beckham will receive the accolade in the ceremony held in Birmingham this year. This award has also been presented to Sir Alex Ferguson, former United player George Best and Seve Ballesteros.
Carl Doran said: "David's record on and off the pitch has been remarkable. It's a fitting reward for an outstanding career as a player and for his tireless work as an ambassador for British sport. He has also been a tremendous role model and I'm sure he'll
get an amazing reaction from the public in Birmingham,'' claimed Carl Doran, the editor of the award.
David Beckham became no less than a sensation in his top form and was considered one of the best players of his era. The player made his England debut in September 96 against Moldova and has since made 115 appearances, 59 of them being as the Captain. The
player was a product of the youth academy of Manchester United, where he spent 10 years and won 9 major trophies before switching to Spanish Giants Real Madrid. David was appointed as a key member of England’s World Cup Bid for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, but
was defeated by Russia.
