Breaking news: Malaga calm down Baptista rumours
Spanish side Malaga is denying that they have already an agreement in place for Roma striker Julio Baptista.
The reports of Baptista being linked with Malaga are being treated at an arms’ length by the Spanish official and the Spanish sides’ sporting director insists that no deal has ‘yet’ been place for the out-of-favour Brazilian.
Reports in Italian rumours suggest that Julio Baptistas’ wage demands are very high for Malaga to accept and if the 29-year-old is to make a switch, he might have to take a pay cut.
The Brazilian has seen himself fallout from the pecking order and has spent most of his time warming the bench this season.
The ‘Beast’ started his football career as a 19-year-old with Brazilian giants Sao Paulo and represented them from 2000 to 2003 during which he scored 14 times in 74 games. His great early seasons earned him a move to Spanish outfit Seville where he scored
a hefty total of 48 goals in just 62 games that prompted Spanish giants, Real Madrid to sign him up in 2005.
At Madrid, Baptista never really rediscovered his Seville form and was loaned out to English outfit Arsenal where he scored only 4 goals in 24 games. He returned to Real Madrid in 2007 and finished the 2007-08 season and his Real Madrid career ended with
only 16 goals in 58 games. He then moved to Italian side AS Roma where he still took some time settling in and has scored only 14 times so far.
The former La Liga 2008 winner with Real Madrid is very much out-of-favour in Claudio Ranieri’s Roma side and is hungry for 1st team chances and will be looking to make a move during the January transfer window.
Meanwhile, another Brazilian from Roma, the controversial Adriano is also looking close to exit from Roma after he clearly stated his disappointment at not being able to get a place in the starting XI. Brazilian side Palmeiras is rumoured to be on the watch
for the ex-Inter Milan player if he chooses to leave Rome.
