  1. i agree nascar is making me want to hang myself..its getting BORING!!!!!!!!!..and football season is still several months away!

  2. Here are the facts according to a couple sources. The Toyotas in NNS are running the newest engine package. It's the same as the one in the Cup cars. The NNS Chevys are still running last year's SB2 engine. The Cup cars are running the R07. Nobody has said why NASCAR won't approve it for the NNS. Obviously it's a better engine or the Cup guys would be running the SB2. On the Cup side, dyno tests show that the new Toyota engines pump out about 3% more power according to NASCAR. Other independent tests show that they have up tp 25 more horsepower. That's about the same based on 800 HP. (Cup).NASCAR is not going to penalize Toyota as they have done nothing wrong. But the sanctioning body feels, as many teams do, that they need to keep the playing field level. While not a fan of Toyota, I have to say that if their stuff is better and legal, then the other manufacturers need to just step up their programs. All of the engines are a 355 ci small block so what one can do all can do if they put their minds to it. Here I mean the Cup guys. But NASCAR does need to approve the R07 for the NNS teams to be fair. I think we're in dangerous water here. If one team has superior chassis or setups, is that gonna be the next big issue? Shut up and drive!

  3. This happens 2 or 3 times a year.So no big deal.

  4. I find this odd and random to.

Partying In The Infield it was on tv on the post race of the nationwide race tonight. I know one was Sadler and i think one was Stewart but not sure.

  5. I HOPE THEY FIGURE OUT WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON CAUSE THE RACES OR GETTING MORE BORING EACH WEEK

  6. I was talking this controversy about the engines over with some friends yesterday. And the question I have is, " Are the motors in the Big 3 lacking because of sub-par development, or do they have the parts waiting, and Nascar just won't approve them ? " I'm not a Toyota fan, but if the Big 3 are just laying on their duff, then they deserve to get smoked. But Nascar has been known to hold back new technology, just to keep the racing they way it is.

  7. wild bill nailed it. toyota hasn't broken any rules and there's been no real accusations of cheating - the fact is that toyota had their new engine (the same as they run in the cup series, but reigned in for the nns) ready for approval for the nationwide series at the beginning of the year and no one else did. chevy does have the R07 available, but as they said after the show, it is unlikely it will be ready for the nationwide cars before 2009. and dodge and ford have nothing that close to "ready to go." so toyota got the jump this year.  people have been complaining long enough that nascar took nine engines (this is not the first time they've done a post-race dyno test) to see what the actual numbers are.

bottom line, they probably will find that toyota engines are putting out more horsepower, but that they aren't breaking any rules to do so - they had the engine approved by nascar before the season began. chevy wants badly to get their R07 (the engine they use in cup now) approved and ready for use, but they aren't there yet.  they SHOULD have been at that point at the beginning of the season like toyota was - then they wouldn't be whining so much.

finally, i think that even if you were to be able to balance out the horsepower, many people, including junior himself as he said after last week's nns race, have finally caught on and said that they are just realizing that JGR has figured out something about building their bodies that make them even more competitive - again, obviously within the rules or they would have been busted for it long ago...

  8. That's great now what are people going to say if it's proven that TOYOTA doesnt have the big advantage everyone thinks?

  9. Some people here don't know much about Nascar recent history.

Nascar regularly dynoed engines last year and published the results, this isn't something new.

Chevrolet, Ford, Dodge and Toyota have better parts and modifications that Nascar has not allowed. They have whole engine designs that have been disallowed. They allow the parts they think will result in equal power levels. If power levels are not equal they will adjust the allowed parts to get them level. Toyota got some better parts approved for this year so the other manufactures will be allowed some improvements.

The engine rules aren't like they are in most racing series. Most series have rules and whoever makes the most power within those rules gets the advantage.

Nascar allows parts that keep things even, the allowances for each manufacturer is NOT the same. Some makes are allowed better parts.

  10. Ok, so what? They need to take Kyle Busch's and find out what his team(s) are doing to his cars.

Hey, by the way..... where did you get your source on this "breaking news"?

EDIT: Ok, I didn't watch the post race. I just didn't care to hear about Kyle Busch again. I'm just sick of it sorry. There were other great drivers out there tonight that could had and should had won. This c**p is just getting old with Kyle.

  11. Rusty Wallace - during the broadcast - discussed the Toyota engine controversy, so it's obvious NASCAR is testing as a means to shut the complainers up and get on with the season with some adjustments or the engines as is.
