Breaking up concrete with metal lath underneath?

We were going to lay ceramic tile, then decided not to (to much work). Now we have a concrete slab with metal lath underneath down our hallway.

We are going to lay hardwood....but I was wondering if it would be wise to remove the concrete and start fresh. Or leave it...however it is about 1/2" higher then the rest of the floor.

Our floor are not level and we were trying to make it level for te ceramic tile.

A real mess we got ourselfs into!!

Any suggestion?

  1. you can add an angled piece of wood instaed of leveling the floor or breaking up concrete.  if you like email me at mstrssdane@yahoo.com with more information about your situation.  i am a professional carpenter and an assitant to a builder with 35 years experience.  the more details you can give the better and a pic or a few of them would be great. my boss and i have run into this type of situation several times, and he has always fixed it to the clients satisfaction.  ttys bye

  2. not enough info. Is this concrete part of you foundation or is it another layer on top? Are you going to redo the flooring in the whole house?
