Question:

Breakout around tattoo?

I finished my tattoo over a week ago. It was a long process and took three sittings. The first two were fine and I had no troubles. Yesterday I noticed hive-like bumps around the part of my tattoo that is healing.

My very first tattoo years ago got infected and what's going on is nothing like it. The bumps aren't oily, nor do they have heads on them.

I am wondering if it could be a coincidence because I also noticed yesterday on the opposite side of my body I have a perfect triangle of spider bites, and am thinking it could be an allergic reaction.

But, if it's from the ink itself I am baffled because I hadn't had a reaction previously, and my artist used the same colors as he did in my previous sit. I took some benedryl today and it helped. I am just wondering if I should let this go a few days or if I should get into a doctor (which can take a few days anyway).

Any thoughts/ideas/advice?

Thanks!

  1. it's probably an allergic reaction. Just because you've had a tattoo before and nothing happened, doesn't mean that it won't...sometimes the allergy starts after MULITPLE tattoo's..it's usually the ink. No matter what ink is used, after enough time the body defends itself..

Take some more Benadryl. (it can be taken for YEARS with no ill effects) and use some Cortaid or something similar (with a steroid) on your skin..it'll probably take a few days to go away.

  2. Doctor. It could be serious. You never know.

  3. I think you should see the doctor about the spider bites if nothing else. Do you think it could be whatever you're using on the tattoo (Tattoo Wax, Tattoo Goo, etc.)? I have seen alot of people have a reaction to Tattoo Goo.

  4. I would go ahead and make a dr appointment, if it goes away before you get in you could always cancel but don't risk the chance that it could be a serious infection. Good luck!

  5. see a doctor right away! it could be an infection

  6. This is really unusual, I would see a doctor in case, but it sounds as though it was done to close to the other sittings, I may be wrong, but you cant tattoo to close to the first one unless it has healed, well you can but it is not advisable, are you using bepanthem only?

No swimming in the lake or pools?

Other than that I really cant think of anything, and I work with a tattooist.

Good Luck, I hope it gets sorted out and I hope it is all good news for you.

    Minny :-)

  7. ya i got an advise like you asked for,

    your stupid yw

  8. (gasp) youre gonna die!!!

hahaha, no youll be fine :)

  9. I've no idea what this could be.

If I takes a few days of waiting to get an appointment at your doctors I'd make one, just in case. If it gets better you can always cancel but if it gets worse you'll be glad you made the appointment.

I could be a reaction to the ink. Do you know if it's the exact same ink they used before? Cause the same colour doesn't necessarily mean the same ink.

If I were you I'd pop into the tattooist where you got it done and see what they think. After all they do have the most experience in this area.
