I am 13 (a little young) but I feel a lump in my left breast. How young can you be to get breast cancer? I have looked up the signs and it says the nipple turning inward (and now I see that it is doing that)...

what do I do? Do you think its anything? (Its a very hard lump and It hurts if you touch it) I'm not very aware, but my other is the same size as it has always been. Should I be worried?

  1. At your age your chances of having breast cancer are just about nil. It's a disease of ageing - 80% of those diagnosed are over 50, it's rare in women under 40 and it's almost unheard of in under 20s.

Mostbreast  lumps, even in women over 50, aren't cancerous. And most cancerous breast lumps don't hurt - most people diagnosed with cancer have felt no pain.

Your b*****s are still growing and developing and what you describe is almost certainly hormonal.

Yes you should tell someone. Talk to your mother, or to your school nurse if your school isn't still closed for the summer. Or see your doctor for reassurance

  2. its rare for a person of your age to get breast cancer. since you are still growing, its probably just a swollen gland (this happens with hormones) and will go away in a week or so. breast cancer lumps dont hurt. if it doesnt go away soon you might as well go see a doctor, it cant hurt. good luck and dont worry too much sweetie

  3. I'm sure it will be you growing don't get worried by it can you speak to your mum about it.

  4. One good article for you: http://www.healthocrates.com/Breast-Canc...

  5. Try not to worry too much. At your age the breast tissue is growing and you are going thru a lot of hormonal changes that can affect the tissue. What you probably feel is fibrous tissue (which is what supports the breast) that is a little tender to the touch related to your menstrual cycle. As you get older that denser tissue breaks down (which is why b***s sag) or is covered with fat so they aren't as noticable. If it's really bothering you, you can have the doctor check it out but some lumps are normal.
