My newborn which is 12 days today has been acting really strange since tuesday I don't know what to do anymore she will be on the breast NON STOP for so long then she'll dose off for 5-15mins fuss and cry looking for the breast, it's to the point where my breast can't even fill back up its not hard no more I can't even get 4oz If I pump I would have to drain them I never had to do that before. I'm very tired, miserable I want to cry. Bowels and pees are great though I bought KOLIK the drops let see what happens but I personally don't think shes colicky. Maybe the milk can't full her anymore I give up it sounds like her stomach is growling I just fed her though.

  1. DON'T STRESS, BABIES SENSE STRESS. I'M BREASTFEEDING- MY BABY IS 8 WEEKS. I FIND THAT MY BABY SEEMS TO GET TIRED OF ONE BREAST, AND WILL WANT THE OTHER. I PUT HIM ON THE OTHER AND HE WILL LATCH ON AND FINISH EATING.

MAKE SURE YOU BURP THE BABY FREQUENTLY...THEY SAY THEY GET AIR IN THEIR TUMMIES AND THEY STILL THINK THEY'RE HUNGRY, WHEN THEY'RE REALLY NOT. WE EXPERIENCED THIS AND FOUND THAT BURPING IS THE KEY TO PREVENT FUSSY BABY.  THEN IF BABY STILL FUSSY, SHES SLEEPY AND FIGHTING SLEEP.

YEH, AS OTHERS SAID, YOU FEEL EMPTY BUT THERES STILL MILK IN YOU. YOUR BODY IS STILL ADJUSTING TO THE BABY AND HIS FEEDING TIMES AND  SOON YOUR MILK FLOW WILL BE IN SYNC W/YOUR BABIES FEEDING.

MY ANSWER IS ALL IN CAPS CAUSE I AM BREASTFEEDING! LOL I'M USING ONE HAND.

  2. Don't worry. Its natural. Let her suck your Breast when she requires. you think your b*****s are empty. But baby is getting the Milk. you just put her on your Breast and Grab a book or watch a T.v and relax.

  3. Sounds like a growth spurt.  Don't worry abou it.  My breastfed baby is 8 days old and is experiencing the same thing.  Just keep nursing on demand.  Good Luck!!!

  4. I had the same problem But she wasn't latching on right. You should call your lactation consultan they help a lot!!!. My baby is 6 weeks old she will be 7 on Monday and I'm going again on Monday b/c I'm still having problems!!!!! and I don't give up :)

    Good luck

  5. Your baby is acting like a totally normal 12 day old.

Keep her at the breast if she wants.  She's getting enough milk.  You're not spoiling her.  Sit down, grab a book or magazine and a cup of water, relax, and let her nurse.

She's fine.  You're fine.  Everything is fine :)

    Don't stress.

  6. I dont think it's colic, probably she's hit one of those famous growth spurts, and yeah, they are hard on breastfeeding moms. As long as you let her feed until she comes off on her own, your body will make more milk for her. I breastfed my first child and am currently feeding my week old son, who is beginning to want to stay on the breast a bit longer. GL to you!

  7. You are not spoiling your baby.  You can never spoil a newborn.

Newborns feed constantly.  My 4 month old still nurses every 2 hours or so.  In a few more weeks she will slow down and become a bit more regular with feedings.  Your breast even though feels empty, is not!  She is getting your milk even though she is feeding so frequently.  Please don't get discouraged and pay no mind to your mother.  It sounds to me like she never breastfed.  As long as she is producing 6-8 wet diapers a day, she is doing great.  Don't give up mom, you have made a great choice for your baby.  If you need anymore help or advice, feel free to contact me.

Also, don't worry about pumping until you have a real supply problem or absolutely have to.  Your baby is the only pump you need for now!

  8. totally normal, mine is 5 weeks & still does it.  4oz at 12 days is great!  drink lots of water, my supply went down & i took 2 prenatal vitamins & up'd my water & i pumped a lot more!  it is very frustrating, u r not spoiling her.  mine went through a growth spurt around that time & would eat nonstop.  also sometimes they just want 2 be close 2 u,  she was in u for 9 months & just wants 2 feel close 2 u.  good luck!
