Breast and pelvic exam?

hey ive heard about theis exam and i just want info about it and what to expect. im 13 and nervous if my doctor tells me that i will have to take this exam.. please give me info on what to expect.. thnx :D

You only do this if you are sexually active. Most women go to see their gynecologist for this type of exam.

what ur doc is going to do is take a lil sample of ur uterus tissue .   with his finger he's going to press up on ur front side and ur lower stomach at the same time to check the thickness of ur uterus.

Then he with go in a circle with his 2 fingers around ur breast *but he will never touch ur nipple* to check for lumps.

Just keep ur eyes to the ceiling and think about something else and it will go fast. After a few years of once a year pap smears it will get easier.

you don't need to be sexually active to have a pelvic. if you have an infection or it itches then you need to get one.

usually you receive the first breast exam at 18, unless you have a history of breast cancer in your family (particularly if it happens at a young age).

a pelvic exam typically involves your doctor inserting a finger into your v****a (with a glove and lube on the finger). with their free hand, they then push against your lower abdomen. try to relax as they will ask if you feel discomfort.

i think pap smear tests usually accompany pelvic exams, and this involves inserting an instrument into your v****a (while your feet are on the stirrups) and opening it until they have a better view inside. they'll usually take cultures and send them off to a lab to test for infections.

you only need to take the pelvic exam if your sexually active and the breast exam is to see if you have breast caner, usually they do that one when your older.
