  1. No you can't. A doctor, even a cancer specialist, can't tell until the appropriate tests have been done, so you certainly can't tell yourself.

Are you concerned that you might have it? I see from your Q&A that you're a young teenager; that makes your chances of having breast cancer just about zero.

Breast cancer is mainly a disease of ageing; 80% of those diagnosed are over 50, it's rare in women under 40 and almost unheard of in under 25s.

The American cancer Society and other cancer organisations recommend that women start breast self-examination at the age of 20 - there's a reason for that.

There are some signs and symptoms of possible breast cancer - a lump is only one and most lumps, even in women over 50, aren't cancerous - but at your age they are really irrelevant.

  2. Well , there ar many ways to determine if you have breast cancer. If you have a hard bump in your breast. Now , if you have had children and have breastfed , then it isn't that bad beacuse it could just be dried milk. If your breast is bruised , that could be bad too.

  3. Go to ob/gyne or primary care physician. From there you will get a mammography. If it is suspicious, you will then have a biopsy.

  4. detection of a lump in breast tissue (even at the very edge, nearly underneath armpit), pitting of skin on breast, change in nipple, discharge from nipple (though yellow/clear stuff during later pregnancy is okay).

It is very rare in teenagers but can happen.  Most abnormalities in early teenage years are hormonal but any lump or changes should be reported to medics.

  5. I found a lump in my breast, it was really tender and my nipple was not normal. What are your symptoms?
