They say that if you breast feed, you loose the weight faster but wont your body store more fat because it is breast feeding? When you stop breast feeding, say after 6months or so, is that when you see your maxium weight loss?

  1. I lost my weight really fast after giving birth July 10. MY preprego weight was 150, and I weighed in at 177 before I gave birth.

Right now, I am 154. It just depends on the person. It seems I'm slimmer now than I was before I got pregnant. My hubby is not happy because I guess when I got pregnant, my booty disappeared! LOL SO for 4 weeks he cooked and said he was trying to get me "booty" back.

I don't think that will happen until I stop breastfeeding though.

  2. I have heard of this before and i heard that breast feeding you lose like 500-600 cal. at a time do some research or ask your Doctor

  3. See for me, I started to put weight back on when I stopped breastfeeding because I was still eating the extra calories that I burned while breast feeding.

If you're already heavy and looking to lose weight while breast feeding, I wouldn't count on breast feeding alone to help you lose the weight.  Eat a healthy balanced diet, do some moderate exercise and you'll see the pounds fall off so quick while you're breast feeding.

  4. It depends on the person, honestly.

Some people lose the weight quite rapidly.  Other people have a metabolism that tries to "protect" the breastfeeding ability by keeping some extra fat.

I think I'm probably somewhere in between.  I lost 20 lbs the first week (including baby, of course), which is what I had gained.  Then another ten pounds over the next six months or so, and I've lost another 10 lbs since then, but I'm kind of stuck at my current weight.  So, some came off really quickly.  It'll be interesting to see what happens when I stop breastfeeding.

  5. My daughter has a new 4 week old that she is breast feeding and she is back to her original weight, in fact has been for the past 2 weeks.
