Breastfeeding Mums.... what happened when you introduced dairy to your little one?

I have recently tried my daughter on some full cream milk only on her cereal (recommended by health nurse). She has previously shown an intolerence to dairy. After 2 days she went from being quite constipated to much runnier. Not sure whether this is normal or if she is still intolerent. I know that if I haven't had any dairy for a while and then I have some it goes straight through me too (sorry TMI), so just wondering how other breastfed babies have gone when dairy was first introduced

  1. my baby just farted a lot hahahaha.

so i switched to soy milk :0)

  2. She got extremely constipated and screamed alot. At one year of age and as a newborn the stupid nurse gave her formula and she vomited it up so hard she chocked So my daughter is now on a lactose free milk because straight soy make her throw up also

  3. My second daughter was not able to properly digest dairy protiens. I nursed her for 10m. She weaned herself. She was on milk-based formula and did okay. But then at 1 she couldn't drink milk. I put her on step-2 formula from Enfamil. Then at 2 on soy milk. Around 3 we tried regular milk and she did fine.

The dairy and milk would give her the runs.

  4. he got hives.  we spent the next 2 years carrying an epi-pen and avoiding dairy like the plague.  he outgrew teh allergy by age 3, but he is still lactose intolerant.  he can have some dairy, but in limited amounts and i try to only give him lower lactose things like cheese and sour cream.

i'm basically putting the same limits on myself while i am nursing baby #2.  the allergist wants us to wait until she's 18 months old before we give her any dairy directly.

  5. The fact that she was constipated and also had diarrhea is a good clue that she is lactose intolerant. Maybe you should try a lactose free milk. My youngest son went to whole milk, lactose free and organic. Wow that was a mouthful. If she does well with the lactose free, you may want to stick with that. I have other children that went straight to whole milk with no problem. My youngest daughter was allergic to milk so it just depends. Good luck.
