I have been only breastfeeding my 4 month old son.. I was just very sick for 3 days but continued to breastfeed.. Now everytime I feed him from my right breast he is still hungry when done eating but if I feed him from my left side he is fine.. Can just one breast stop producing milk? Or am I just slowly drying up from being so sick? :(

  1. You may be a little low from being sick.  You may be a little dehydrated too.  Why not just offer both sides at every feeding?

Just keep nursing on demand.  If you always respond to your baby's hunger cues, your milk supply will always adjust.  You will not just spontaneously dry up.  I know that other women on here say that a lot, but they didn't do their reading on the subject.  Trust those of us who have overcome breastfeeding issues--your supply will bounce back if you nurse your baby when he's hungry.

  2. Keep starting your feedings on the right side to pump up production.  I also think you need to drink lots of water.  If you have been BF for 4 months you should be fine as long as you stick with it.

  3. Drink,Drink,Drink...you are de-hydrated from your illness...nurse more often from the right and in a few days you will be back to business as usual!

  4. You being sick probably made you dry up a little bit. It is normal to produce more milk from one breast, just start y.our feedings on the rt side for a couple days and feed more often to up your supply again. Good Luck

  5. I almost had one breast dried up but with letting them nurse more frequently with that breast you can replenish your breast milk supply, My son favors the right breast so it fills up with more milk than the left. It depends where they like to eat.
