Question:

Breastfeeding Question?

I breastfed my first born for about 8 months. Then I dried up due to work and nowhere to pump in the office I work in.

Anyways, I am currently pregnant with #2 and my b***s start to produce milk again. Well they haven't been leaking, but it feels like it's going to produce again.

My question is, if they do start leaking before I give birth.. can I pump it out and store it? Is that possible at all? I would love to give the best thing for my child and I believe that is my milk.

  1. Normally your milk wont actually come in until after the baby is born, right its just colostrum. Also its not safe to pump during pregnacy it can start causing contractions before you are due and you could have complications with your baby. Remember when nursing your first child in the first week how you would get slight contractions it was you uterus shrinking and contracting.

But once your baby is born you can nurse and pump all you want and it should be fine. Nursing is a supply and demand system so the more you pump/nurse the more milk you will have come in.

  2. your mother / doctor is the best

  3. Milk does not come in until after your baby is born.  You may leak colostrum prior to birth but it will generally not be enough to pump.
