I've decided to keep breastfeeding after my daughter's one year birthday. Any advice on this? (positive!)

  1. great stuff! keep hydrating yourself, she can eat some solids, too.  Ignore critics.  If THEY had the PERFECT food they wouldn't be jealous!

  2. It is fine but when she begins biting,  you may want to stop.

  3. Be in it for the long haul. =)  I'm breastfeeding my 19 month old, and he's quite committed to it.  I think it would have been easier  to wean him at a year because he couldn't make it known his preferences as well, but I love nursing him!  He's never had an ear infection and is rarely sick.  So I think it's great.  Just keep doing what you're doing.  I give my son cows milk as well, so I don't really worry about my supply.  But it took awile to get him to drink the cow milk.

  4. Be prepared for your child to lift your shirt in public (and they will flash you all over)!  My son is 14 1/2 months, and he has already done it  :)

  5. Good for you! The best advice I can offer is to recommend a great book on the subject. "Mothering your nursing Toddler".

Reading this really encouraged me when I decided to nurse my son past his 1st birthday. He is 16 months right now and nurses about 3-4 times a day. I don't mind it at all. Its nice being able to cuddle him while he nurses - he's usually running around any other time. He nurses first thing in the morning (its like he needs it, like coffee!) and then before his nap, and then before bed. And sometimes one extra time, and when he is teething its more frequent.

  6. Good for you !I never thought I would still be nursing a two year old but I am it is the best for them....
