Question:

Breastfeeding and having discharge?

I've exclusively breastfed my son since birth and he's 5 months now. I've also had a continuous mucus discharge the entire time. In the past 2 weeks the discharge has become thick, yellow and stretchy. No itching or burning and no odor.

Any other mothers have lots of discharge when breastfeeding and of what type? I was told I would be drier than usual but the exact opposite is true!

  1. I have been breast feeding exclusively for 7 months and I havent experinced any discharge expect for clear. I found this, it is from cnn.

  2. I had a similar discharge when I was first pregnant and on-and-off during my pregnancy and it was diagnosed as thrush.  I never had it again after I gave birth to my son though and I breastfed for 12 months.

I recommend seeing your doctor and they will surely be able to let you know what it is and how to treat it.
