  1. When i got pregnant with my first child, it took 3 months after stopping the pill.  I've been breastfeeding her for 10 months and still haven't had a period yet, but I'm not pregnant either!  We're open to the idea of another baby, so we're not being careful.

  2. there is a very low dosage pill that you can take whilst breast feeding, because your only feeding once and having your periods you could fall pregnant I believe.

  3. Its a common misconception that breastfeeding stops you from falling pregnant. You can get pregnant when breastfeeding.

  4. I got pregnant while exclusively breastfeeding.  My son was 4 months old and I found out I was pregnant the next month.  He nursed almost exactly every two hours all day and at night.  I was surprised it happened so fast!  I've learned that anything is possible! They are 13 months apart.  It was a great surprise though :-)  they are best buds now

    FYI:

As for Lin's answer, she said she exclusively was breastfeeding... well I'm certain that can't be right if the kids were 7m and 12m... she most likely was feeding them baby foods or solids- which is another source of food.  So if you are giving anything else (juice/babyfood/water/etc) you are not exclusively breastfeeding.

  5. If you are having regular periods, you can most likely conceive.  Often breastfeeding will stop your periods altogether (also stopping ovulation), which is why it's typically hard to get pregnant while breastfeeding.  But if you're having regular periods, that's a good indication that you're also ovulating and you should be able to conceive anytime.  If you don't want to get pregnant again yet, I would suggest another form of birth control.

  6. I got pregnant twice while exclusively breastfeeding. The 1st time my son was 7 months when I became pregnant and this time my daughter was 12 months when I became pregnant again.  My kids were never given a bottle and nursed 3-4 times a day when I got pregnant again.  I was also on the low dose pill so I am just kinda super fertile but I know other people it has happened to too.  My close friend and her sis are only 11 months apart and her mom exclusively breastfed.

  7. not long enough! i was breastfeeding and on the depo shot when my daughter was 2 monthes prego again..whoops we did it again... ask anyone who has irish twins...2 kids born within 14 monthes of each other...i have two sets though the older ones are step kids..they are 11 monthes 2 weeks apart

  8. Breastfeeding will only help prevent pregnancy if you are breastfeeding exclusively including at least one middle of the night feeding.  If your monthly is regular then you could get pregnant.

  9. Breastfeeding is not a form of contraception, you should be using other protection to avoid pregnancy.
