  1. I went on the mini-birth control pill.  It is safe for breast feeding.  I don't know if it causes weight gain, it didn't in me.  Good luck!

  2. I have an IUD and swear by it!!

  3. Jolivette, progesterone only bc ("mini pill").  Others can reduce your milk supply.  On the weight gain issue, I think it's different for everyone with any pill.  If you are breastfeeding, though, you shouldn't gain much weight anyway, you burn lots of calories making milk!

Remember that the progesterone only pill works best if you take it at the same time every day.  It is not as fool-proof as a regular pill.  However, breastfeeding itself also usually helps suppress fertility.

  4. I have the mirena IUD, its pretty nice, I've had it for about 7 weeks now I got it at my 6 weeks check up.  Just check out all the side effects and you can talk to your doc about it.  It works for 5 years!

  5. Only progestin, which is available in the mini pill but there is always a risk of wt gain. The pill acts systemic or you can get the Mirena IUD. Which I have and it acts only on the uterus, only a trace amt gets in the blood stream.  No pills or shots to remember.  It thins the uterus, blocks sperm and you don't have a period.  You will have spotting occassionally and for the first few weeks after insertion.  OR there is the Depo injection, which thins the uterus, you do not have periods.  It is difficult to get pregnant after being on the shot for some women.  S/E include wt gain, acne, mood swings, headaches, etc.

  6. I would not use BC pills while nursing. Why dont you try the IUD: Intra Uterine Device?
