Breastfeeding breaks your fast?

my husband told me that if i breastfeed then i will break my fast? my daughter is 16 months and has been exclusively breastfed from day one, and I'm in the what seems to be never ending weaning faze. she only nurses at night more for comfort than for the actually milk that i still get. so is this true breastfeeding breaks the fast?

LOL noooo! not even close. Allah will continue to reward you for breastfeeding, especially while fasting! (inshaAllah)

im not sure how many ramadan's ive breastfed thru i think this is #4

oh and dont listen to that lame-o above. there is nothing to say that you cant breastfeed and fast, and as you said your daughter is 16 months old.. shes not doing it for nutrition, shes doing it for comfort. same with my son hes 14 months :) masalaama

It doesn't break your fasting, it is very hard to make up the whole month later on alone.

If you can fast and breastfeed at the same time do it.

Let me get this straight - do you mean 'fast' as in 'fasting' and not eating? Because that would be extremely f'd up if you are breastfeeding and fasting. In order to breast feed properly, you must have proper nutrition which means you must eat properly. Are you really supposed to fast while breastfeeding, even if it's for religious purposes?

We are also told that a woman should breast-feed for 2 years.

It prevents breast cancer. :)

Suckling of a baby is a valid reason for not observing the Fast.

Not recommend for a suckling mother to Fast.

Suckling does break the Fast.

Some women even arrange a wet nurse for the baby, so they can observe the full Fasting without suckling their own baby.

I've never read anything like that. Plus your not the one getting befitting from it food wise.  I dont see why it would break your fast.
