Seems this topic has been rather hot today... so I thought that I would post this for all of you to see. Look up your state... memorize or print out your state's Statutes and carry it with you. The next time someone gives you a hard time about nursing in public... jump up on that soap box... pull out your piece of paper and LET THEM HAVE IT!!!

  1. I'm in California and I breastfeed everywhere I go and I've received looks from people but no one has ever said anything.  If they did say something I didn't like, I would speak up.

    I can't wait to go to Ireland one day!!!

  2. It's in the Canadian Charter of Rights that a woman has the right to publicly breastfeed anywhere.  All provinces and territories!

    mcmom, that is a cool rule in Ireland!! I'd love to see someone who complained be the one kicked out!!

  3. Don't live in the US -- but, the law is the same the whole way around the country where I live (Ireland), so there is no confusion.

    But, a bit of trivia;

    In Ireland, if a breastfeeding mother is hassled or asked to stop or cover up in a shop/cafe/supermarket/restaurant -- the law states that the owner or manager of the property must evict the person who complains from the building.

    Very cool.

  4. My son will be 22 this year but when he was only 4 weeks old we were in the US. I breastfed him at the top of the World Trade Centre. No complaints from anyone there :-)

  5. I nursed my son anywhere he wanted to eat. I didn't hide under a blanket or in a filthy bathroom but I didn't exactly annouce it either. Most times, there was a bench or a chair kind of out of the way and we took a few minutes and did our business. Nobody could see anything and nobody ever really bothered us-even when we walked through a store nursing. There was one time we were at the zoo, on a bench, and my mom freaked out, trying to cover us up with a blanket and it was the middle of summer. I laughed and told her to chill! There is absolutely nothing sexual or wrong with nursing and I am glad I was able to give my son the best.

  6. love it, i don't breastfeed  but i wouldn't be one to stop it. funny my state has nothing listed, i might have to look into that.

  7. you go girl! i went to a breast feeding class and the teacher said why is it bad adults eat in public why cant infants lol it was a good point!

  8. Argh, I can't find ANYTHING about Guam!!  :(
