Question:

Breastfeeding - sore/tender nipples & areolas - pregnant?

Ok so my daughter is 7 months old, and I have been breastfeeding since she was born. Last month I got my period for the first time since I had the baby. My husband and I would like to get pregnant any time (not trying but not preventing), and this past week my nipples/areola area have both been very tender and sore. To touch them or have my bra touch them, feeding my daughter or pumping etc. I have period symptoms (bloated, sore b***s, munchies, tiredness) but no period, I know they aren't pregnancy symptoms because I wouldn't be far enough along and I didn't have any symptoms at all with my first pregnancy except sore b***s, but not sure why my nipples would hurt like they do?

Any suggestions would be helpful!!!

Thank you so much.

  1. Tender b*****s could definitely be a symptom of pregnancy in your case and is often one of the first for women who are breastfeeding. However, it could be caused by other factors. I guess I would suggest waiting until your period is due then take a test. Make sure there are no other factors involved with your sore areolas such as infection. good luck
