I've been breastfeeding my 6 week old since she was born and out of the blue today felt this pain in my right breast and felt it and theres alittle lump. I was reading that it's probably a clogged duct. What do clogged ducts feel like? And what are some ways to get rid of it? I think i got it caused i missed a feeding with my daughter. Can any of you breastfeeding moms help?

  1. When I had a clogged duct it sort of felt like when I was engorged, only the swelling and pain was concentrated in that one little spot where the clogged duct was.  When you nurse, hold your baby so her chin is pointing at the clogged duct.  Massaging the area can also help.  When you're nursing or pumping, run your fingers over the area, going towards the nipple.

My only clogged duct lasted about 3 days, then it was gone in an instant.  It was like a dam breaking!  My little boy couldn't swallow the milk fast enough, and it was such a relief!

  2. Yes. It's like popping a zit but it's in your breast. Squeeze your breast firmly and slowly use a hot needle and just break the surface of the clogged duct/pore. That should relieve the pressure. Be careful, it will hurt if you do it wrong and/or cause infection. Trust your Dr first.
