Question:

Breaststroke and freestyle tips?

I'm not a fast swimmer. I've been in this sport for 6 years with NO blue times, and for some reason only now decided to get off of my lazy butt and actually try.

My hips and shoulders aren't growing correctly, so they deeply affect the way my back and fly are executed. I decided that I want to focus on getting blue times for the strokes I know I'm already good at and am close to getting the blue times for (OK, well, maybe I exaggerated on the "slow" part...). Not that I want to completely take out fly and back, though.

Thanks!

  1. when sprinting freestyle, lift your head so you get on top of the water, obviously long strokes, most importantly just kick a ton!!!!!!!!!

breast stroke dont look up, keep your rythem

also try lifting that will help you power through the water

  2. I'm proud that you are actually wanting to get out there and try to get better! On freestyle (I'm a sprinter and a freestyler) what my coach taught me was that when you are swimming free you should lift your head out of the water slightly to where the top of your goggles are to be hitting the surface of the water. Also take looong strokes like you are trying to reach something ahead of you. GOOD LUCK!

  3. Ok. i've been doing this sport for a long time. i do have some tips.

    Freestyle-

    1. When you come off the wall in a turn or a start,be in streamline position.

    2. Don't let your hands cross over the middle of your head. You want the hands to be on their own side.

    3. Don't breathe off the wall. Take at least 1 or 2 strokes.

    4. You should kick butterfly off the wall to make you go faster.

    5. Make sure you are reaching your arms as far as they can go.

    6. Roll your shoulders.

    7. Finish to the wall quickly.

Now, here's my best stroke... Breaststroke-

    1. Make sure your kicking for one leg is identical to the other.

    2. Glide after every stroke.

    3. It used to be to pull small... but now you want your pulls to be very big and wide.

    4. Keep your chin down when you breathe.

    5. Don't move your head.

    6. Do a complete pullout with a butterfly kick.

    7. Keep your fingers closed.

And most of all for both strokes - stay confident.
