I am an average sized female, not athletic but not overweight, but running is extremely hard for me. It is hard for me to breathe after about a half a mile or sooner, so I was just looking for some tips on breathing and running techniques because I am goin to basic training for the air force and I want running to not be so hard for me by then. Thanks!

  1. Breathing hard is only one consequence of trying to run without proper training. When you're on shape, breathing goes so natural you just do it automatically. I think you don't need breathing techniques, you need a running training program and to follow it carefully. We marathoners, breath the most comfortable way we can, through the noise and mouth, so breathing technique is opening as much as possible, all the air intakes available. You can try www.runnersworld.com to find out the proper training to fit your needs and just go ahead. It's easy but requires mainly a powerful mind to move us toward the target.

    Good luck.

  2. breath only through your nose for as long as you can before you breath through your mouth.

pump your arms back and get your knees and legs up.

    hope this helps...

    good luck...

  3. breathe in with the nose

    breathe out from the mouth

i usually do it in this way =P

    hope it'll help you

  4. well i know it may sound strange but swimming can really help with your breathing!
