  1. Sorry for my english. The problem with breath is actually, that when you take breath in, at this very moment you are a little bit slower, weaker. Observe your breathing for a while, and maybe you will find out that you, just as many people are breathig just with upper part of lungs - b*****s. In that case you should learn to breath with all 3 parts - upper, middle and the lowest part (cant translate the name - but you should find in any yoga book). After this you should be able to get more air in your lungs, and so be able to run further with just one breath and there will be no need for you to breath as many times during 100m and maybe you will be able to be a little bit faster. I  have heard that the best runners are doing 100 m just with one breath, but i cant imagine.

what is your time for 100 m?

  2. There is no "right way" as people's comfort zones are different.

However to get a good start breathe out as you push off and start (breathing in can cost you getting off to a good start).

Try it, try 100 meters once with breathing out just as you push off and next time breathing in, you will feel the difference. Don't hold your breath at the start, but I'm found that if you going hard at the last 25m it helps if you hold your breath.

The rest of the breathing will fall into place from there.
