Question:

Breathing/saliva issue when running?

I'm fairly new to running. I can run at around 15/2 miles. While running I get *more* viscous saliva.

Does this have anything to do with heart failure? Don't get me wrong - I'm a young guy and I don't expect to have anything wrong with my heart.

But while running, especially since I'm new to running, maybe I'm in a state where my left ventricle can't keep up and some fluid backs up into my lungs. Is this at all possible?

  1. I wouldn't be all to worried, learn how to spit...also milk and cheese (dairy products) make the body produce more saliva. That is why a lot of really good singers avoid dairy. Have fun.

  2. Everyone has saliva issues with running when they first start. Just spit it out, unless you are on a treadmill.

  3. I have the same problem, & for me it's acid reflux.  Get it checked out by your doctor.  If it's acid reflux there are plenty of medicines (OTC & prescription) that work great.
