  1. Do not worry about breathing through your nose and out through your mouth... I think it is garbage.  The idea is to get as much oxygen in as possible without hyperventilating.

Breathing comes naturally with your fitness level.

I run long distance in college, but through all my years of coaching and attending running camps, I have never heard someone be told to breath in through their nose and out through their mouth.

  2. just breathe naturally, your body already knows how to breathe so just let it do its thing, in and out both through the mouth which gets the most oxygen in in the shortest time.

  3. the only thing is breath through your mouth cuz that gets you more oxygen and when u run,  breath whatever way that feels comfortable

  4. I am on the Swim Team, and I also love running. Breathing in your nose and out your mouth really works for me for both sports. If you breath in slowly and a pretty big breath that is comfortable for you and out your mouth, you actually do get more air. I personally think it prevents me from getting side aches and a lot more air. Sprints I don't think it really matters it's kinda hard to think about breathing when you are trying to run your fastest I don't think it really matters. But Try it on the 400m, that will help you to not have side aches if you get them. Again personally it works really well for me in track and swimming doing longer lengths.

  5. There is no such thing as a correct breathing style. What you should do is just breathe like whatever makes you run your fastest and right pace. Your 200m, you should hardly have enough time to begin actual heavy breathing. And for your 400m, that is going to require the most breathing because you are pushing your anaerobic (without oxygen) threshold and need your lungs to have enough air. Good luck!

  6. You can't overthink about the way you should breathe. You just have to let it come naturally. Many people have different breathing techniques and they are still great runners. Personally, I breathe through both my nose and my mouth. When I am really out of breath I just take a deep breath and relax. Don't overanalyze it, you just need to breathe the way that is most comfortable to you.

  7. personally, I don't know why people do breath through their noses, because as you said, you can't get nearly as much air.

I usually follow one of two techniques:

1: Big breath in, two breaths out, repeat

2: three breaths in, one big breath out, repeat

  8. because karate kid said so!!!
