Question:

Breathing when Lucid Dreaming?

There are times at night when i try to enter a lucid dream by staying conscious as my body falls asleep. (WILD technique) I generally follow my breathing to relax and keep something to focus on. However i will get to a point where i feel like my body wants to slow my breathing. But i cannot seem to let go of it and end up feeling like I'm suffocating. What am i doing wrong?

  1. It's your bodies natural progression into a sleep state.  What you need to do is focus on the dream you wish to enter and forget your physical body.  It will take care of itself.  Your own body will not suffocate you, I promise.  It's just that a body at rest requires less oxygen then an active one.

  2. I'm changing my name to "TheAllKnowing" lol.

He's right. You need to concentrate on something else. Imagine counting steps or ladder rungs. The counting helps with keeping the logical part of your brain active, and, I think it's using repetition for relaxation.
