Breeders’ Cup runners Drill and Jake Mo pre entered in the $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot
The 2-year-old Bob Baffert trained colt, Drill, after a disappointing outing in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile where he finished 10th at Churchill Downs on 5 November, 2011, is now among the 17 pre entered for the Grade 3, $ 1million Delta
Downs Jackpot on 19 November, 2011, and the 1 1/16 mile event will be held at Vinton, La.
The son of Lawyer Ron, out of Cat Dancer by Storm Cat, Drill right after breaking his maiden over at six and a half furlongs at Del Mar in his second attempt, landed the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity under Martin Garcia on 7 September, 2011.
He was expected to do well in his next start, and probably go on to win it against the top crop of the 2-year-old division.
Bob Baffert must have over looked the presence of Creative Cause in the Grade 1 Norfolk Stakes over at 1 1/16 miles on 1 October, 2011, at Santa Anita Parks’ dirt course, as Drill finished in second place to winner Creative Cause who topped the distance
in 1 minute and 42.66 seconds.
Another pre entry for the Grade 3, $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot is the 2-year-old colt, Jake Mo, who is also coming off a trip at Churchill Downs in the Breeders’ Cup, where he participated in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Sprint over at six furlongs
and finished fifth to winner Secret Circle.
Apart from his maiden breaker at Prairie Meadows in June this year, over at five and a half furlongs, Jake Mo immediately won the Prairie Gold Juvenile also at five and a half furlongs in July.
Jake Mo’s next assignment was at Remington Park to run down the caste in Kip Deville Stakes on 7 October, 2011. This race was also a prep race for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Sprint.
Jake Mo couldn’t win it but he managed to finish on the money with a third place finish behind winner Alsvid and runner up Sum of the Parts.
Though owners Milligan and Stephen Brown still have to consider a few factors before giving Jake Mo the green signal to run in the $ 1 million Jackpot.
