It is the beetle stage that produces the eggs that then hatch into larva or worms. If you are trying to breed the large mealworms you will need to separate several worms each in its own separate container to force them to morph into the beetle stage. Small mealworms will morph into beetles in a colony situation but large mealworms will not, you have to separate them.
