Breeding Roses?

I want to learn how to breed roses. Does any one have any info to help me start out????

  1. I think you would need to get yourself the strain of rose you wanted to cultivate and then take cuttings off that plant to create 'clones' identical to the original rose plant.

    You then take cuttings of these younger plants and so on and so on.

    Not 100% on roses but plants is plants so I guess that would be a start.

    Either that or get really technical with tissue culture technique, this involves taking very small parts of a plant (any growing part) and transfering to agar where the small parts are given the correct nutients required for growth. These then grow into larger plants (eventually) but is a way to grow hundreds easliy without having to take cuttings from one original plant.
