Breeding nets used with platys? Ten points for best answer. Take a look please!?

Ok, so I have a couple questions I have to ask you. The first one is, should I use a breeding net when breeding platys? I currently have the pregnant female platy in the breeding net that is 4"x2x4. I don't know when she became pregnant so I don't know when I should place here in the net. Seems a little cramped. Should I take her out of the net and let her swim around because there isn't much room in the net. What should I do? Have you had experience with breeding nets? What did you do. Also I don't know how many weeks the female has been pregnant.

PS: I have done research on the subject but everyone says something different. Have you ever had luck breeding platys or other live bearers in breeding nets?

yes adam is right never put her in the net breeder she will get stressed out and die.you can put obstacles so the fry can hide in.by the way fry is babies.

Take her out of the breeding net! It is very stressful for her to be moved in such a tiny place and if pregnant livebearers are very stressed they abort their babies. This might happen to ur fish if u keep her in there. I suggest u get some round marbles and put about three layers at the bottom of ur tank. Also make other hiding places like seashells. I have a pair of black mollies four pairs of guppies and a pair of platies they all breed. The babies hide in the marbles and seashells. And when a baby comes out shoo the adults from it and try to catch it and put it in the breeding net. ( I do this with my fish, I currently have 5 mollie fry, 5 guppie fry, and 3 platie fry in the breeding net.) And no matter how much you try some fry will get eaten.

I agree with Adam O. Thats a good idea with the marbles, I never thought of that! Wait to put her in the breeding net until she looks ready to pop and you can see little black dots in her belly. (those are the baby fish eyes) Then stick her in there
