Question:

Breeding "Jungle Corns" (corn X king)?

We'll be breeding jungle corn hybrids next spring. I remember reading somewhere that it was preferable to have either species be a certain gender, since one likes to stay joined longer than the other. I can't find the place I'd read that, and I want to get it right before we breed. Don't want the boy to get his bits hurt when the girl tries to make a hasty get away...

Thanks!

  1. Really, in order to be successful, you'll need females of both species. If I was going to do it, I would use a kingsnake as the male. I would place a female kingsnake in there to get him excited. I would then pull her out and place the female corn in there. You'll rarely be successful if you don't do this switch-e-roo since the pheromones put off by a female corn usually won't get a male kingsnake excited, or vice versa. I have a friend who's bred these for a few years now.
