right, i love danios and i have a shoal of 17 along with 3 pictus cats in my 180litre tank but i dont really have sufficent money for a small tank to breed them...

so i was thinking, could i put about 7 of them in a large bucket, put marbles at the bottom, adjust the temperature accordingly and wait or will that just wipe out 7 of my danios??

please help me out here!

thanks

  1. That might work for spawning, but you'll need a separate tank to raise the fry. They are tiny, so small that newly hatched brine shrimp are too large for them to eat. The best first food for tiny fry is infusoria and that's an art in itself. None of these things are too difficult, but they do require a little research, and an inexpensive book can be a great help. A good book is much easier to use than sorting thru the B.S. that you get in these forums.

Good luck, breeding egg layers can be a rewarding experience

  2. i wouldnt use a bucket cz u will need a filter and airstone init as well as the thermometer,i would get a tank devider which u can pick up from most pet stores and breed them that way safer/cheaper and u wont kill off yr fish hope this helps u out and good luck with them
